The Ministry of Basic Education has announced that applications for phase two of are now open after the successful completion of phase one which ended in April.

 

In a statement released on Tuesday, the ministry said applications for the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) .

287,000 opportunities available

BEEI is part of the President’s Youth Employment Initiative. In the second phase, BEEI aims to provide 287,000 unemployed young people with employment and training opportunities in the education sector.

Of these, approximately 192,000 will be teacher assistants and approximately 95,000 will be general teacher assistants. Successful candidates will be placed in schools for five months,

“Young people between the ages of 18 and 35, who are not currently in education/training or receiving any form of government subsidy, as well as young people with disabilities and women, are eligible and encouraged to apply for this rewarding experience. . » . Said the ministry.

Candidates selected for the internship will have the opportunity to receive training in a variety of skills that will prepare them for future employment opportunities. ”

According to the Ministry of Basic Education, the following teaching assistant positions are available:

 

• Education Assistant – Curriculum.
•Teaching Assistant – ICT / e-Managers.
• Teaching Assistant – Reading Champions.
• General school help – Child and youth protection agent.
•General tutoring – maintenance staff (no matrix required).
• School General Assistant: Sports and Enrichment Manager (no matrix required).

To be eligible for teaching assistant opportunities, the candidate must have passed Matrix English. Having an NQF level 4, 6 and 7 qualification certificate will be an added advantage.

To be qualified as a generalist school assistant for infrastructure support (maintenance staff) or a sports and enrichment agent, the candidate does not need to hold a secondary school leaving certificate. . However, commercial certificates will be an added advantage.

“To work in education, you must have a good ability to work with individuals and groups, have good communication skills, be a good listener and have an interest in academics,” the department said.

To apply for teaching assistant jobs, you need to register on sayouth.mobi, create a profile and apply there. All applications will be online and visits to schools will not be permitted, according to the ministry.

• In a Twitter update on Monday, September 27, the Ministry set out the following criteria for applicants:

• Applicants must not be 36 years older.
•Living within walking distance of school.
•You don’t have to work, study or train (not even part-time).
•Only one opportunity can be taken per household.
•It should not receive any government subsidy (NSFAS, •Funza Lushaka).
•No criminal record.

Applicants who receive notification that they have been shortlisted will be required to provide the following documents:

 

•Curriculum Vitae (CV).
•Testimonials (former school, local chief, church leader, etc.).
•Certificate Policy.
• Applicant’s affidavit/statement that they have no criminal record pending police clearance.
• Certified matric degrees (if applicable: NQF Level 4 Qualification Certificate, for Teaching Assistant candidates at NQF Levels 6 and 7, an added benefit).
• Certified true copy of ID/passport.
